I read about Cathy's death in the Star Ledger. I am so sorry for your loss. Death of a loved one can be very distressing even if the person is elderly or sick. The Bible teaches us that death was not part of God's original plan. He wanted man to live forever, in perfect health, on a paradise earth. Man disobeyed God and brought about sin and death to the human race. God's plan will still be realized. Isaiah 55:11 states, "So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight. It will have sure success in what I send it to do." The Bible talks about a resurrection of those who have died. (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) The Bible account in John 11:1-44 details a resurrection Jesus performed and which gives us the certainty that the resurrection of our loved ones will occur. The word resurrection in the Bible literally means "a standing up again" and "revival of the dead". The provision for resurrection of the dead is a magnificent expression of God's undeserved kindness. It displays his wisdom and power and is a means by which his original purpose regarding the earth and humans will be carried out. Cathy was a good friend of mine for over 50 years. It breaks my heart that she is gone. I will cherish the many memories of fun times and getaways with her. She lived a full life and her legacy is her beautiful family. I am sending prayers for peace and comfort to her family and friends.

I first met Cathy at North End School over 50 years ago and we have been friends ever since. Although we lost touch for a while after high school, when we met again, we picked up right where we left off. We had great times at our high school reunions and over the years on girlfriend getaways, including Green Pond, with Lisa O’Hara and Janet Roman that were always very special times.
Cathy’s family meant the world to her and she was a perfect example of living life to the fullest. She was a wonderful, caring friend and I will surely miss her.

The first time I met Cathy was at Lake Valhalla when she was pregnant with Brian. We ran into each other as we were both pushing baby carriages, and our first little playgroup was started. I have so many wonderful memories with your family over the years: Mumns, Montville playgroup at the old community center, the birth of our children, LVC, Yacht Club picnics, St. John, William Mason events, Super Bowl and Halloween parties, Turkey Mountain. Kevin’s 50th birthday, book club, Green Pond, walks around the lake, the list is endless. Cathy was involved with many things, and although family was the most important thing in her life, she always found time to be a friend. She is irreplaceable, and I am so sorry for the difficult times you all went through, and for your loss.

I have fond memories of Cathy and babysitting for her wonderful children. She was always so organized and made things so easy. She selected the most beautiful flower girl dresses for both Christine and Ellyn to wear in my wedding.
I will keep Cathy and your family in my prayers.
Love,
Jennifer (Kinkead) Zoellner

The words that come to mind when describing Cathy are so numerous; beautiful, intelligent, loving, considerate, patient, loyal, caring, creative, focused and calm. Cathy always had a true deep sense of calm. On a family vacation to the Outer banks of NC years ago when our children were young, we were sitting on the beach on a beautiful sunny day. Cathy stayed back in the house happily reading a book. As we sat there, the kids running in and out of the water, burying each other’s legs in the sand and enjoying life, a lifeguard drove by in an ATV. There was a message displayed on his vehicle that there were tornados in the area!!!
I jumped up, screamed, grab as many kids as I could, while the guys picked up beach towels and chairs. When we ran up the dune and saw the western sky panic really set in. The sky was green, gray, black lightning and frightening. We got to the house, the shutters were blowing, the wind was howling, and there was beautiful Cathy absorbed in her book. Calm as the Dalai Lama. She lovingly hugged the kids and we all hunkered down waiting for the storm to pass. A center of reason, a balance to my panic. The Keep Calm and Carry On to my out of breath flustered mess.
I will miss you, as I know everyone who has ever known you will, my beautiful friend. My heart breaks especially for your loving husband Kevin and your BEAUTIFUL children Ellyn, Christine, Brian, Amy, Mia, and little Mackenzie.
Love always,
Heather
