Mr. Barrett was a great man. He carried himself with class and grace, and I was lucky to have known him.

Walter’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Mr. Barrett was my favorite teacher at Denville Main street school. I graduated there in 1958. I have many fond memories of him; he was kind and patient with his students. The woodworking skills he taught us have lasted well into my adult life. My heartfelt condolences to all the family.

THIS GUY is the reason I became a teacher. I taught woodshop for many years. He’s the reason I even went to college. He saw something in me that my own guidance counselor wouldn’t even consider. He drove me down to Kean College and introduced me to all the Industrial Arts professors. Don't know if I would have been admitted without his help. I enrolled there because of him. This guy was a good guy. I'm in my 40th year teaching/Counseling and I still credit him when talking to my students about going to college.
I still do a lot of woodworking and it’s all because of this man.
I am sad.

I just wanted to pass along my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family of Mr Barrett.
I had Mr Barrett in woodshop at Madison High School from 1972-1975.
Walt taught me much of what I know and still use in woodworking. He was a patient teacher and I loved his classes. I actually had 3 classes in my senior year because I so enjoyed his teaching. Walt also took a few of my friends and I hiking at the Delaware Water Gap on several occasions. A true teacher and lover of people. Thanks for all you gave us. Rest In Peace.
