Dear John and Lisa, my family is saddened by the loss of "Father Thorn". It is comforting to know he is now with your mom, the love of his life, Charlotte, and brother Peter. I am forever grateful to have had Father Thorn officiate my marriage to Sandy and the baptizing of our son Jason. I am also grateful that your mom and dad put up with me for the mischief we've gotten into in our teen years and for you John, my best friend forever. I love you JJ!

I was so sad to hear of the death of Fr. Thorn. He was my Priest, Mentor, Counselor and Friend @ St. John's from 1963-1979: a very long time. When I moved to Maryland, we kept in touch every Christmas & he never let-on that he was ill so his passing came as quite a shock! I was very involved @ St. John's including being the 1st Woman Lay Reader/Chalice Bearer, Choir Director and Vestry member. I could never list all the things he did for me during his Priesthood but I will never forget his kind and Fatherly advice on all matters of life. Goodbye Fr. Thorn & thank God our paths crossed in this life. You were a wonder Priest, man & friend & I will miss you very much.

Dear Lisa & John:
My wife Dee Kromka and I were surprised and saddened to read your Dad's obituary in yesterday's paper. I had had the pleasure of spending 15 minutes visiting with him in late February at Dean Mackey's retirement party, and he didn't appear to have issues that could shorten his life so swiftly.
Jack and I enjoyed a very strong and supportive collegial relationship for the 15 years or so during which we served our congregations simultaneously. We had the marvelous experience of twice touring Israel together, taking many from our congregations with us when we returned the second time to the Holy Land. But you may not realize that he was my partner for many years in starting and hosting a weekly gathering of interdenominational clergy for the study of Sunday's lessons, gaining some great mental and spiritual motivation for our preaching.
Always gentlemanly, kind and faithful, your Dad was much loved and will still be long remembered with gratitude to God for his pastoral service. I have no question that he shall hear stated upon his entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
We are unable to be with you for the services as we are on the road visiting with family in TN & GA.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Father Thorn was a wonderful person. He did so much for my family during his years at St' Johns. I remember him telling my mother Dorothy and I that God wouldn't mind if we came to evening services in our Pj's he would just be glad that we were there. We all had a good laugh. He had a great sense of humor and and a way of making you feel that you could get through anything. We will miss him and always remember his kindness. Again my deepest sympathy for your loss.

So many memories during my childhood. Will always remember Uncle Jacks soft spoken voice and his smile...especially his smile, and when he wanted to laugh but tried not too and his smile would be higher on his right side. He is now an angel watching and looking down on his family and friends. God Bless you Uncle Jack.
