Dorothy Vanderyajt, 93 of Montville, NJ, formerly of Boonton Township, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Dorothy was born in Irvington to Steve and Julia (Hadam) Sperun in June 1931 and was raised in Montville. She was a graduate of Boonton High School. 

Dorothy met Robert Vanderyajt at a barn dance in Boonton Township and they married on July 29, 1950. They lived in Boonton Township, raising their two sons. She worked in the Import / Export side of the business at BASF in Parsippany for 10 years before retiring. In her spare time, she loved to sew, garden and entertain their friends. Dorothy enjoyed boating and traveling.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; and is survived by her sons, Robert R. Vanderyajt and his wife, Terry; and Brett W. Vanderyajt and his wife, Lynn; her cherished grandchildren, Chris Vanderyajt, Amy and George Ryan, Kyle Vanderyajt, Mallory Vanderyajt and her husband, Dan Flanagan; her adored great-grandchildren, Axel and Lilly Ryan; her kitty, Chloe; and her extended family.

Per her wishes, a private burial was held at Rockaway Valley Cemetery in Boonton Township. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory to Eleventh Hour Rescue or your local shelter would be most appreciated. Services were provided by Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton.
