Ruth O. Bonanni, lifelong Boonton resident, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 92.

Born in Morristown, NJ to Andrew and Cornelia (Halley) Michko in February 1932, Ruth graduated Boonton High School in 1950 and went to work at Aircraft Radio. 

She met Nicholas G. Bonanni in school and they married in 1952. They moved into the house on Chestnut Street that was built by the Bonanni family and began their family. 

Ruth thoroughly enjoyed working as a lunch lady at Boonton High. She loved to talk about all that happened each day. Ruth was also proud of all the search word puzzles she would solve, finishing book after book. One of her favorite things was visiting with her grand-pup, Maddie. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas; her siblings, John E. Michko, Dorothy Basch, and Robert Michko; Ruth is survived by her devoted daughters, Donna Barnet and her husband, Joe; and Nikki Ann Bonanni and her partner, Cindy; her cherished grandchildren, Riley and Gabrielle Barnet; her sister-in-law, Gilda Marion; and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton. Friday morning, May 10th will be a brief visitation at 11:00am with a prayer service at 11:30am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Boonton.
