Obituary of Michael J. Pettersen

BOONTON---Michael J Pettersen died Monday, September 19, 2011 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover following a brief illness. He was 54. Born in Boonton, He was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Boonton High School in 1973. Mr. Pettersen was a postal carrier with the U.S. Post Office, Montville for the past 22 years. He had not retired. He also was employed part-time with Green Hill Liquors, Parsippany. An avid bowler, he participated in several leagues in the area. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara (nee Tierney); three sons, Michael J., Jr. of Boonton, Joseph E. of Parsippany and Steven T. of Clifton; a daughter, Melissa A. of Parsippany; a brother, Edward of Dover and a sister, Marie Nauta of South Carolina. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24th at 10:30 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. The interment will be private. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, Suite 200, 140 Littleton Rd., Parsippany, NJ 07054.
