Patty was an inspiration to us all to be good people. She taught us to be there for each other and to work together to make someone else’s life better. We were always working on service projects. Christmas gifts for Friends of Cedar Hills was one of my favorites. She had a special gift of motivating kids and adults to want to get out in the community and help others. She had a lasting impact on thousands of lives and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend!

Patty, my dear friend, the fun times we had while working so hard. The Key club meetings with over 100 kids, Trick or Suites, the sleep-out in February, Empty Bowls, trips to Great Adventure and Key Club conventions, Jello wrestling! So many memories. You had an amazing ability to motivate kids and adults to do good works. Chance made us colleagues but the fun and laughter made us friends. I will miss you forever!

I had the distinct honor of being in Munich the moment Patty and Mike met each other. Mike was the only one of our touring party to have enough sense to bring a camera. As you can see from the first photos- he was immediately smitten. She was one of the finest people I have ever known.

For our dear friend of over 45 years….We are Patty O’s friends from Plattsburgh, Lake George and beyond. So many stories, adventures, good times and great friends were made then and continued into our Annual Ladies Weekend. Always happy to add some new friends along the way. But traditions held fast over the years. We bonded over great food, walks on the beach, some tears, heated discussions, laughs till your side aches, shared family stories, a little too much alcohol and of course PITCH, our favorite card game.
Patty will always live in our hearts and will be missed dearly.

Michael, Michael Patrick, Matthew and James,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your beautiful wife and mother.
Patty loved each of you more than life itself - and you know how much she loved life!
Despite all the medical challenges, all the pain and all the physical restrictions, her spirit remained strong and her attitude always positive.
It was truly a blessing and an inspiration to have been a part of her life.

Patty was a force of nature. Rarely have I met someone with such strength and determination to keep fighting, despite the challenges she faced, and invariably with a positive attitude and never a complaint, at least that I heard. She was smart, she was clever, she had a sharp wit and was a keen observer of people and the world. Whenever you ran into her, which of course could often happen in Mountain Lakes, or were with her, you knew something fun was going to get said and happen! So many terrific memories, but two worth sharing - while Judy and I lived in Mountain Lakes, Friday night happy hour margaritas always ended the week on a high note, no matter what had transpired, and after we moved to California, coming back to NYC to visit our daughter Hillary often met a reunion with the Mountain Lakes gang and much laughter and sharing of memories. Patty's indomitable spirit and zest for life lives on in her boys, who she cared so deeply for, and the many memories we will always cherish of her. What a joy and a privilege to have been able to spend time with her and Michael and their beautiful family. She's making them laugh now up in heaven.

We were privileged to be among those in the wide arc of Patty's uplifting influence, kindness and keen understanding of others. Our family will never forget how Patty reached out to us and supported us through the school activities in our own dark days of sadness in 2006 and 2007. And though eventually we did not often run into Patty again when we did we felt the special bond she had forged with us like no time had passed. We will always remember her and send our heartfelt condolences to Patty's family.

A warm and friendly neighbor, Patty was always so kind to us. She gave my son Wyatt a bag of tulip bulbs years ago (he was probably 4 or 5 years old), and she offered to plant them with him in our yard. I don't think she ultimately felt good enough to do it, so my dad planted them with him in a circle near our basketball hoop. I will think of her each and every time I see their cheery yellow color in the spring. My prayers are with her family.
In sympathy, Dale

We are deeply saddened to hear of Patty`s passing. I personally feel a particular sense of loss since I have to know and work with her for over fifteen years at MLHS, particularly during Empty Bowls and especially in 2008 during the inaugural softball season at the high school when she helped me organize what became Donnie Farrell Day. On behalf of my son Angel (Class of 2012) and myself, our deepest condolences to the entire family. God bless.

Patty was always an inspiration to everyone who crossed her path- either during a yogalaties class at the Y, hiking in the Tourne, or walking along the Boulevard. She was always smiling and always wanted to know your latest adventures. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. The celebration of her life that is planned at Island Beach is the best way to honor Patty. Sincere condolences to all her family and friends. Love, Angie Dello

We met Patty and Michael through Michael's sister Susan. They ( of course ) had a party to introduce us to their friends. Patty had me at "hello". She was interesting and interested. Her quick wit coupled with her intellect always made for a complelling conversation. Life was never dull with Patty.
She wisely understood all types of people and loved people. Patty was loved by many because she was so generous in giving her love and support to all those in her orbit. I will always remember the baby shower for our fourth child Chris, Patty taped 12-14 lollipops around the stroller! Her sense of humor was quick and she kept us on our toes! Michael Patrick Matthew and James were the light of her life along with her rock husband Michael. The McElduffs were admired by many because of their commitment and love for each other as well as their community. Patty instilled those critical values Patty's commitment to empowering others was demonstrated in all of her good work at the school and indelible volunteerism. Medical Needs Foundation was founded and successful because of the community's love for Patty as well as the incredibly connected and intentional community of Mountain Lakes. Though we moved to San Diego, we kept up on our visits and always during election season. It was an honor to walk part of Patty's journey with her. May she rest in peace and may all of us keep her strong legacy of love and joy alive. With love and admiration Judy Adams Halter
