Dorothy Maxine Stafford, 77, of Boonton, NJ passed away on August 26, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Known to all by her middle name, Maxine was born to Herman and Grace (Simmons) Goodrich in Lawrenceville, VA. She moved to NJ during childhood and graduated from Teaneck High School. Maxine received an associate degree from Rockland County College in NY.

60 years ago, while Queen of the Cotillion, she met the love of her life, Royce B. Stafford, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage this year. Maxine spent her career in banking, achieving the position of Assistant Vice President before she retired. She was an esteemed member of her community and served as a Notary Public. Ever devoted to her family, she also provided pro-bono bookkeeping support for the family business. Her selfless nature and nurturing spirit made her the pillar of strength for her family and dear friends.

A woman of many talents and passions, Maxine found joy in cooking and baking delicious treats, and perfecting tasty food recipe creations. There was always an open invitation at her home, where she welcomed everyone with open arms. She enjoyed traveling, visiting family and watching foreign TV and films. Maxine spent her life touching the hearts of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She will forever be remembered for her radiant smile, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone she knew.

Maxine was a true matriarch, instilling values of love, compassion, and resilience in her children and grandchildren. Her unwavering support and dedication to her family were unmatched, and her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Royce; her devoted children, Royce, Jr. and Scott; her daughter in-law, Karen; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan; her sister, Olivia Hawkins; and a large circle of extended family and friends who will forever miss her presence.

Please join her family on Thursday, September 7th for visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the service, at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton.
