Kathleen Ann “Kate” Ofsonka, 74, of Franklin Park, NJ, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, after a valiant 20 month struggle with cancer.

 

Kate was born in Morristown to John F. and Gertrude (Downey) Ofsonka in February 1949. She grew up in Boonton with her siblings and graduated from Boonton High School in 1966. Kate found her niche in commercial insurance, leading to a 50-year career and retiring from Munich Re America Services in Princeton.

 

Kate was an avid traveler and visited many countries around the world. She enjoyed reading – every genre was appreciated. Kate was fun-loving, independent and an amazing sister and friend.

 

Predeceased by her parents, Kate is survived by her sisters, Sharon Meier and her husband, Robert; and Susan Dangler; her brother, John J. Ofsonka; her niece, Melissa Meier; her nephews, Michael Pollack, Keith Pollack, and William Meier, his wife, Brianne and their son, Nathan; her friends, Trish Egan, Ann Dey and especially Kathy Murphy, whose help and support was invaluable to Kate and her family.

 

Please join her family in a celebration of Kate’s life on Thursday, July 27th from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton. Inurnment will be private. If so desired, donations to a charity of your choice in Kate’s memory would be appreciated.
