Linton Samuel Duffus Obituary

Linton Duffus, 89, of Boonton, New Jersey passed away after a yearlong battle with an ailment at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. Mr. Duffus was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica and has lived in Boonton for many years. His departure leaves us a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts. Mr. Duffus worked for Pyro Chem for many years until he retired and most recently he held a seasonal job as a Landscaper which kept him busy after the usual long winter months. He was known for the quality of his work. In his spare time, Linton enjoyed talking to his family over the phone. He loved travelling back to his home country to visit his extended family and friends. He had a generous heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mr. Duffus came to the United States from the Bahamas over four decades ago and worked as hard as he possibly could while he lived in Boonton. He completed the immigration process to allow all his four adult children to migrate and join him in the United States. After they arrived, he guided them and set them on the right path to success in America. Mr. Duffus would always encourage his children and grandchildren to set aside something for a rainy day - we will never forget those encouraging words.

Linton was preceded by his mother, Florence Garrison; his father, Alfred Duffus; his wife, Louise Duffus; his son, Samuel Duffus and his stepdaughter, Vivine. He is survived by his fiancée, Barbara Cole; his children, Vassel, Eunice and Lollite; his stepchildren, Clive, Meloney, John and Calder; his grandchildren, Shawn, Omar, Aaron, Suzette, Robert, David, Leroy, Kevon, Alexandra, Gracie, Dashone, Dameon, Don, and Miguel; his 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In this time of sorrow, we find solace in knowing that Mr. Duffus is at peace, reunited with those who have gone before him. His spirit will forever guide us, reminding us of the values he held dear and the love he shared so freely. Though he may be physically absent, his memory will forever live on in our heart.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, on Saturday, July 1st at 11:00 am. Visiting will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Boonton.
