DENVILLE---Alfred M. Bakken died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville following a long illness. He was 96. Born in Minneapolis, MN, he lived in the Pine Brook section of Montville for 37 years before moving to Denville 16 years ago. Mr. Bakken was the sales manager for Dayton Rogers Manufacturing Co., Minneapolis for 49 years before retiring in 1990. In this area he was a self-employed manufacturers representative. He received his associate's degree from the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the Manufacturers Representatives of America and was instrumental in developing industry standards in metal stampings. He was a member of Plymouth Lodge #168, F & AM, Robinsdale, MN and was a member of the Shriner's Zuhrah Temple, Minneapolis. He received a commendation from Montville Township for supervising community service participation. He was an avid hunter. His wife, Beverly, died in 2000. He is survived by a sister, Marion Osen of Andover, MN; a cousin, Sharon Hagen of Minneapolis, MN; a niece and a nephew and his special friends, Marsha and Norman Raymond. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 2:00 P.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. The interment will be private. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
