I met Jan in an Abnormal Psychology class at Ramapo College. We clicked instantly and spent a great deal of time together in school and out of school along with her friend Diane. What I remember most about Jan from college was how much she made me laugh and I could tell her anything. She was a good listener and very empathetic. In those days, most all of our professors were very left wing and the psych professor talked a lot about Chile. Jan would mimic him fondly outside of class and talk about the kind of chili we have for dinner.
We kept in touch over the decades. I moved to Canada and returned to Jersey for a trip in 2014. Jan met me at my hotel in Mahwah and we had a beautiful lunch together. She told me all about her wonderful husband Gary and her kids. We kept in touch on Facebook until very recently.
My heart goes out to the family. Jan was much too young to die and she had challenges that made her life more difficult than other people's but she faced them with bravery and good nature. I will miss her greatly. I feel guilty about not keeping in better touch with her on the phone and via text message but I know she will forgive me because that was her nature.
RIP, my beautiful Jan.
Sigrid

Q: What will you never forget about Jan?
A: We shared the same first name and lived one block apart from each other. I'd see her once in a while when I would be out walking my dog. Those were the good old days when we were young and could dream.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Heaven has most certainly gained an angle.

Jan was a very vivacious and happy woman. She was very holistic & loved walking in the outdoors taking in mother nature’s exquisite beauty. She was a dear sister-in-law, to me & Bob & we will truly miss her smile & her great zest for life. She is now in peace & serenity for all eternity & may there be many Angels surrounding her, her husband, Gary & family.& friends. Now you are free Jan so fly with the Angels!
