Obituary of Ross Whitson, Jr.
Ross Whitson, Jr., 71 of Boonton, NJ was called home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
Born in Talladega, AL in 1951 to Ross Sr. and Georgia (Jackson) Whitson, Ross was part of a large, loving, family with a strong foundation in the church. He graduated from Westside High School in 1969, moving to NJ shortly afterwards where he spent the remainder of his life. He worked as a truck driver for Warren Distributors of Flanders for many years before he retired.
Ross enjoyed the outdoors and loved to participate in hiking, fishing, and barbecuing. He was especially fond of gardening which he learned from watching his father at a young age. He loved istening to old school music and singing along with his family. He adored his wife and daughters, and they were his main focus.
Ross is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Catherine (Beston); his cherished daughters, Deidra McCollough (Mark), Tanya, Daneisha and Aliyah Whitson; his grandchildren, Jhevan and Jayden McCollough; Craig Brooks, Jr., and Aiyana Whitson; his great-grandson, Noah McCollough; his sisters, Ernestine Curry, Faye Jenkins, Debra Wilson, Theresa, Diann, and Suzan Whitson, and Ruth Clopton; his brothers, Lonnie, Oliver, Walter Lee, Charles and Christopher Whitson; many nieces and nephews and his friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24th from 10:00 – 12:00pm, at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton, with the service starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton.
