DENVILLE Richard J. Leggiardo, 61, died on August 16, 2011 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and has lived in Boonton, and resided in Denville since 1974. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force he served during peacetime. A graduate of Boonton HS in 1969, he was an avid golfer and a Dodger fan. Mr. Leggiardo was a Lieutenant at the Boonton Police Department after serving for 30 years retiring in 2002 and was a lifetime member of the Boonton PBA Local 212. He was also employed by the Morris County Vo Tech in Denville as a security guard. Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years Mary Kay (Johnston) of Denville; a daughter Kristi Leggiardo of Denville, two sons Jason and wife Emily Leggiardo , and Patrick Leggiardo both from Rockaway. Four cherished grandchildren Tyrone, Kassie, Ayden and Ashley. Brother; Michael Leggiardro and wife Sandra, a niece Cheryl and nephew Michael of Virginia Beach . Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 - 5 PM only at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 910 Birch St., Boonton at 10:00 a.m. The interment will be private. Memorial donations in Richard's name may be made to the: Mayo Clinic Hospital, 4500 San Pablo Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32224. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
