Obituary of John Francis Minihane
John Francis Minihane of Boonton Township, NJ, Foster Wheeler executive, U.S. Air National Guard Veteran, Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship congregant, Boy Scouts of America volunteer, and dedicated husband and father, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was 88 years old.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 9:30 AM to Noon at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave, Boonton, NJ and include a short service at 10:30 AM. The interment will be private.
Born in Lynn, MA, John lived in New York City and Caldwell, NJ, before moving to Boonton Township in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1957. John began his 42-year career with Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in 1957. His career at Foster Wheeler was varied and included roles in engineering, proposal management and sales, culminating in an executive role as a Senior Vice President of International Sales.
John was an avid reader of history, devoted cat owner, gardener, and handyman. He loved the outdoors, scouting, collecting model trains and was also a life-long fan of the New York Giants. John was a jovial soul, quick with a smile or laugh and eminently loyal to his family and friends.
In 1959, he married Ann Lynn Desmond, the love of his life and wife of 48 years, who sadly predeceased him. John is survived by his sons, David J. of New York, and Stephen J. of Virginia; his brother, Joe of New Hampshire and five cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn, Julia, David, Aiden, and Fiona.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in John’s memory.
