Please share a memory of Regina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Regina Whitehead passed away on May 16, 2022, just four days before her 71st birthday on May 20th. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Whitehead; her son, James Pedersen and his wife Faith; her daughter, Jenifer Herdin and her husband Mark; her five grandchildren, Emily, Veronica, Cynthia, Matthew and Michael; and many loving cousins.

Regina was born in Jersey City to her parents, Raymond and Mary Geraldine Witkowski in 1951. Regina spent the first part of her professional career as a nurse caring for patients at the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center for 25 years. She then decided to return to school to pursue a degree in teaching and followed up by completing two master’s degrees in Special Education and School Administration. She became a teacher for students with special needs and retired in 2014 after 25 years in the classroom and touching the lives of countless students.

Known as a caring mother and compassionate friend, Regina told everyone that being Nana to her grandchildren was her greatest achievement. In her spare time, she volunteered with her husband for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in which she served as FSO-MA.
