EDGEWATER PARK---Fanny Simms Polk passed gracefully from this life on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Virtua Health & Rehab at Mount Holly. She was 88.
Born in Morristown, she lived in Boonton Township for 47 years before moving to Edgewater Park 10 years ago.
Mrs. Polk was a homemaker.
She graduated from Boonton High School in 1941.
She was an active member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Boonton Township where she served on the Usher board the Deacon board and sang with the choir. She was also a member of the Hope Christian Tabernacle, North Philadelphia.
Her husband, Samuel Theodore Polk, Jr., died in 1987.
She is survived by four daughters, Jacqueline Polk Drayton of Dover, Nancy C. Polk of Andover Township, Janet Polk Phillips of Edgewater Park and Mary Beth Polk of Henderson, NC; two sisters, Frances Burden and Ida Simms, both of Great Falls, MT; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 4 Church Rd., Boonton Township with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton.
Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 A.M. on Friday prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton.
