Obituary of Tracee Ann Sutter

Please share a memory of Tracee to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Tracee Ann Sutter died suddenly Wednesday, December 16, 2021, at her home in Boonton Twp. She was 53.

Born in Orange to Morris and Beverly (Callahan) Sutter, Tracee grew up in Boonton and was a graduate of Boonton High School. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and her master’s degree from Seton Hall University, specializing in Psychological Studies.

Tracee had been employed by the State of NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) for the past 24 years. She started in 1997 as a Behavior Modification Program Technician at the North Jersey Developmental Center, remaining in that position until 2001, when she became a Case Manager through early 2020.  Her most recent role was as a Coordinator within the Employment and Transition to 21 Unit.

Tracee enjoyed working with the individuals and their families that she met through her work, always aiming to improve their satisfaction with the support services and their quality of life. Her career was a large and important part of her life.

But Tracee’s primary focus was her son, Shane and her amazing Pugs – Cooper and Claire. She loved to come home and unwind with them.  Her favorite times in life were spent with her family, especially her son and mother, celebrating birthdays, holidays or just everyday occasions.

Tracee was predeceased by her father, Morris John Sutter in 2015; her sister, Kimberley Anne Sutter in 1966; and her brother, Sean Michael Sutter in 2011. She is survived by her beloved son, Shane Matthew Sutter of Boonton Township; her adoring mother, Beverly (Callahan) Sutter of Montville; her brother, Robert S. Sutter, and his wife, Sharon, of Boonton; and her sister, Kris Caravela and her husband, Tom, of Montville; and her loving nephew and nieces, Dean, Ava, Savannah, Sydney, Shea and Summer.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Tracee’s son for his college education fund - “Shane Sutter” c/o Kris Caravela 67 Davenport Road, Montville, NJ 07045.
