Obituary of Margaret Mary Tom
The family of Margaret Mary Tom, of Boonton, NJ, is sad to say that she suddenly passed on Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Margaret was born and raised in Springfield, NJ and was the daughter of Otto and Jean Graessle, she was one of seven children in the family. She graduated from Kean College with a bachelor’s degree and taught Physical Education in Springfield and later worked in computer graphics for Prudential, McDonell Douglas and NYTEL. While at NYTEL she met the love of her life, Philip Tom and later married. Together they raised their daughter, Sara Rachel, in Boonton.
Margaret was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boonton where she was an ordained Deacon and also volunteered in many activities such as Meals on Wheels, Soup Kitchen in St. John's Church, coat drives, and "Moving Faith To Action" - Morris Habitat For Humanity Construction Crew.
She enjoyed traveling with her family around the world and fishing with her husband.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband, Philip, devoted daughter Sara, loving sisters, Kathy Zieser and Lois Martzahl and brother James Graessle. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ann Wherle , and brothers, Jim and Edward Graessle.
There will be a walk-through visitation on Tuesday, March 30th from 5-8 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ – please briefly visit and take leave so others can do the same – feel free to gather outside afterwards.
