Forever Loved By His Family

Aniello Russo, of Towaco, NJ, formerly of Jersey City, NJ, 86 passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020. Born in Meta di Sorrento, Italy to his parents, Gaetano and Immacolata (Cioffi) Russo.

As a young man, Aniello developed his expert craftsmanship as an inlay woodworker. Recognized for his carpentry skill, he helped in building the famous Sorrento inlay gadgets. Aniello was well liked by those who worked beside him in the San Cesareo alleys.

He felt the need to set out in search of bigger and better things. He began working on ships and traveling to many different countries. In 1957, (age 23), he decided to stay in the United States in search of a better life.

In 1960, he wed his wife Lucia and started a family. He worked as a Diesel

Mechanic for the Hudson Bus Company where he was employed for thirty years before retiring. However he wasn't the typical retiree. His drive for working to keep busy led him back to the art of cabinet making as he'd done before.

Through referral of his pristine workmanship, he helped restore many beautiful Brownstone homes of Hoboken and Jersey City.

He was hardworking, loyal, and caring. All good traits he instilled in each of his children.

As he finally relaxed into retirement, he enjoyed taking on gardening projects with his beloved wife Lucia. He also mastered yet another skill, creating beautiful stained - glass artwork.

Even today, family and friends of Aniello in the United States and Italy will miss him dearly and will enjoy reflecting on their fond memories of him.

Aniello is predeceased by his beloved wife Lucia of 59 of years. He will be sadly missed by his loving sons and daughter, Gaetano, Sr., Antonio, Sr., (Christine), Christina Petrosino (Simone) and Aniello, Jr. (Doreen), cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Gaetano, Jr., Alexandra, Dante, Briana, Aniello III, Nicholas, Antonina, Antonio Jr., Dominic and a great granddaughter Enza; also many nieces and nephews.
