Obituary of Karen Marie Cruz

Karen Marie Cruz (Cordero), a beloved mother and friend, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 with her loving daughters, husband, son-law, brother & sisters-in-law, niece, and nephew-in-laws, and by her side.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Edward Frank and Joan Patricia (Murphy) Laverty, Karen lived in Hudson County before moving all over Northern New Jersey before settling in Boonton where she and family supported one another.

Karen was not afraid to work and worked several jobs in her lifetime to support her family.

She loved her family and spending time with loved ones, telling stories and sharing memories.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Johnny Cordero; loving daughters, Nicole Marie Stager and her fiancé, Craig Masker, Jr., Kimberly Ann Kuzma and son, Eddie Garrison; devoted brother, Alan Laverty and his wife, Dorothy; cherished nieces & nephews, Lori & Joey Laverty, Yanniz, Junior & Ashley Cordero; adored granddaughter, Julie Ellen Garrison; also extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends will visit with the family on Sunday, March 1st from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, New Jersey. A Funeral Service will follow at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 70 River Road, Montville, New Jersey 07045 on Sunday, March 1st at 1:30 pm.
