MIDDLETOWN---Dorothy E. (Velting) Chadwick died peacefully at her own home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. She was 89. Born in Bronx, NY she lived most of her life in Boonton, moving to Middletown in 1995 following her retirement. Dorothy is probably best remembered as Mrs. "C", the co-owner and bookkeeper of the Boonton Hardware Co. for many years before retiring in 1995. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Leo the Great RC Church, Lincroft and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Boonton. She was also a member of the rosary society of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Boonton. Her husband, Vincent B. Chadwick, died in 1973. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Bruce V. and Margie Chadwick of Randolph, Glenn D. and Laura Chadwick of Boonton and Scott C. and Kathy Chadwick of Belford. Also surviving are her grandchildren Rory, Lindsay Gordon, Stephanie and Daniel and a great grandson, Ryan Gordon. A memorial funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 910 Birch St., Boonton. There will be no hours of visitation (please remember her as you do) and the interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Dot's name may be made to either the ARC of Morris County, P.O. Box 123, Morris Plains, NJ 07950-0123 or the American SIDS Institute, 528 Raven Way, Naples, FL 34110. Arrangements are by Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton.
