I just found out about Janet today. I am so sad to hear of her passing. She was so nice and had such great energy. I just found a card she wrote to me when I moved to Texas while cleaning... so had just been thinking about her. It was so nice that I kept it with the things I treasure. God Bless her beautiful soul!

Condolences to all the Bennett family, Amanda, Peter, Alix and Kathryn. Your mom is a special lady, I have so many wonderful memories of being in your home, so I know it will be easy for you to cherish your memories of her going forward.
Moms are the glue of the family, and are never forgotten.
To me she will always be "Mrs Bennett" my best friend Alix's mom.
Love to you all.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Bennett. Back in 1965 when my family moved to Boonton as the only Orthodox Jewish family in town, she was warm and welcoming and came to my rescue and defense when the public school would not allow to wear a hat when I ate, as prescribed by Judaism. My father was the rabbi there for one year but that one year burns in my memory thanks to Mrs. Bennett and of course my dear friend, Amanda. May her family take comfort in the memories of this wonderful woman.

Janet Bennett had that special ability to make you feel that you were the only person in the world who mattered. She could laugh in the middle of a sentence and she loved stories of misadventures, always delighting in a story that started out as a serious undertaking and ended with comical relief. I thought of her when Jean Vanier passed away last week because she shared so much of his same strength and compassion, with a confident yes to every challenge. Janet brought that same embracing and accepting love to my life and to many others. She was a person that you could easily turn to and she saw the best in us.
I can close my eyes and still here the typewriter clacking away Sarge curled up at her feet.

What an accomplished woman, with a great sense of humor. I have told every Janet I ever met in all ends of the Earth about the Janet Club, and even met a few members along the way. With love and care to the whole clan, Alison Krawiec Faubert

When I first met "grandma" (2008) it was on a cold winter night. I have just arrived in the country a few days earlier and Amanda took me to meet Alix and her daughters right before we headed to a Chinese restaurant (that later on someone told me it was Janet's favorite) to meet grandma. I was terrified (if you are an imigrante you know how scary it can be) by the idea of being accepted into their world. My broken English not always could express what I wanted to say but that night Janet made me feel so special and I'll never forget that. She talked to me all night and was genuinely interested in my life. She paid closed attention to me and helped me find the words when she could. When we said goodbye that night she hugged me (which meant the world) and said: "thank you for being here at this time in our lives". In less than one hour I was not terrified anymore, I felt like I was part of their world.
Even after I was gone and came back in 2012 for Georgia's graduation, that night I apologize saying that my English got bad for not practicing while I was gone and she said "your english is better than many americans" making me feel really confident. She never let me put myself down, she always took away my insecurities without even knowing it.
Even after I was not so close to the family, she would still email me whenever she read or heard something about brazil. I did not even know she had my email, and to know that even after years... I was still in her memories... I hope she knew how important she was to me and how important and special she made me feel. Thank you Janet, I'll never forget that. You'll forever be special in my heart.
Love,
Carol

I am so sorry to hear of Janet's passing. She, as so many people have noted, was an amazing and inspirational person. I am fortunate to have wonderful memories of her: we met for lunch often (Macaroni Grill being one of her favorite places), discussed every topic under the sun. She was super bright, super knowledgeable about many topics -- and a great sense of humor. I will miss her very much

Oh I am so sorry to hear of Janet’s death. She was an amazing woman. I lived in Mountain Lakes for four years and joined the Janet Club started by Janet. I attended many of the Janet lunches and so did my mother-in-law another Janet, when she was visiting from Scotland.
Janet was so welcoming and positive and bursting with energy and the excitement of life. A truly remarkable women who very many people will miss. RIP Janet Bennett. X
