BOONTON---George A. Oravits died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was 67.



Born in Morristown, he lived in Boonton his entire life.



Mr. Oravits was vice-president of Xetron, Inc., a specialty lighting company in Cedar Knolls for 30 years before retiring in 1999.



He was a 1961 graduate of Morris Catholic High School, Denville.



He was a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.



George is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cynthia (nee Malayter); two daughters, Olivia Thea Oravits and Elyse Mary Oravits, both of Boonton; three brothers, Thomas Oravits of Denville, James Oravits of Pocono Summit, PA and Robert Oravits of Rockaway and three sisters, Barbara Weiss and Joan O'Rourke, both of Centreville, VA and Mary Algarra of Santa Fe, NM.



Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25th at 11:00 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. The interment will be private. Friends may call Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Kiwanis Ambulance Service of Boonton, P.O. Box 16, Boonton, NJ 07005. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
