BOONTON---Alma M. (Van Brookhoven) Meola died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover following a brief illness. She was 79.



Born in Passaic, she lived in Clifton before moving to Boonton 46 years ago.



Mrs. Meola was a bookkeeper/cashier with A & P Supermarkets in Wayne and Lincoln Park for 15 years before retiring in 1993.



She supported the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.



Her husband, John F., died in 2000.



She is survived by two sons, John L. of Dingman's Ferry, PA and Louis J. of Boonton; three daughters, April L. Bortone of Branchville, Sandra Carfagno of Montville and Dawn Bortone of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Gary Van Brookhoven of Lancaster, PA; a sister, Lucille Hughes of Cedar Grove; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5th at 10:00 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
