The Honorable Edward Vincent Gannon of Newton, NJ, passed away on February 16, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center after injuries sustained in a recent fall. His Honor was 63 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, February 19th from 3 – 7 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, February 20th at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church 910 Birch Street, Boonton. Born in New York, NY to Edward F. and Genevieve Gannon, Ed grew up Boonton Township and lived in Newton for the past few years. He was an Eagle Scout with Rockaway Valley Troop 69 for many years. Edward earned a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA; and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University. Judge Gannon was appointed to the bench in 1991 after a successful private law practice. He was given tenure in 1998 and appointed to the Morris / Sussex Vicinage, also being assigned to Passaic County. Ed was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his devoted sons, Michael and his wife, Irem and Rory Gannon; loving mother, Genevieve (Lally); dear sister, Barbara Baumgart and brothers, Kevin T. and James M. Gannon; his best friend Mary Ellen Gannon (nee Fennell); also many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father, Edward F. Gannon and sister-in-law, Lisa Mary Gannon. Ed's primary focus was always his family and friends, all of whom he loved dearly. He also enjoyed bobsledding, skeet shooting, hiking, snowshoeing; and was a proud member of the Gannon Brothers DPU Bobsledding Team.
