Dear Madi,
The mind replays what the heart can't delete. Even though I never had the opportunity to meet your beloved husband, my heart goes TOTALLY out to you during this VERY sad and difficult stage of your life. Please know that you and the entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just picked up the Parsippany Life paper and read this news. I worked at Conrac Corp with Gene from 1972 until 1981. One of the nicest people to have had the pleasure of working with. We had a wonderful group of people at Conrac at that time and there are many great memories which Gene is a part of. My condolences to Gene's family. I always heard about his children who he was so very proud of.
Please accept my condolences.

This was meant to be read at the service:
This rememberance comes from Wendy and Frank in New Zealand, a vast distance between here and there.
Frank and I wish we could be there to remember with you, for this time to honor Gene's life. We feel the deep sad loss for his passing from this world, and have cherished memories; ones that induce smiles, and shakes of the head. I suppose all of us will hear Gene everytime a steam engine's whistle blows or a helicopter flies, or a Beretta hits a target at the shooting range. He'll be in our hearts and our mind's eye, whether it is with a smile, a shake of the head, or one of these passing sounds or sights.
When someone dies it is one of the next biggest life changes after being born. If we celebrate the birth of a child why not rejoice in a life well-lived?
Hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people will cross our path in a lifetime, and only a small percentage will touch us significantly. Usually they are teachers, wise souls not just in a classroom. They have quiet, tolerant natures to offer us gifts of insight, revealing more of ourselves and of the world's workings so we become just a little more brilliant on the inside for having the encounter.
Gene was one of these unassuming teachers, full of various achievements, some obvious, some secretive, he was man who essentially chose to leave an unlabelled stamp or mark within each of us, at one time or another.
He had a complete and unconditional generosity of being, despite being an only child. He was careful and methodical, as an engineer must be. Yet, he was amazingly intuitive, and understanding of the talents and foibles we each carry.
Gene earned expansive respect from many corners of world. And for all this, he also had his “out loud” moments, too. We can all hear him yelling “WHAAAT?” when some trivial disturbance would be on the verge of inhibiting a great invention, or the final design plan of a flying object...Gene also liked to play a Neil Young CD loudly in the car. He was a picky eater and probably needed more greens, yellows, and oranges in his diet, but when he liked something, he showed us the meaning of GUSTO, even if it was a liverwurst sandwich.
We hope you are smiling or even having a chuckle, for Gene deserves only our joy, and our love that wraps our good-byes in a sorrow for his leaving. Gene is worthy of our praise, tears, and laughter. We honor him, a truly good man who lived a truly fine life

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort your tomorrow

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Gene, a very dear and good friend. Gene was a truly kind and compassionate man. We shared many hours of laughter with our spouses. We comforted each other in the blackest of times and rejoiced together in the good times. A friendship that spans over fifty years is a rare event ,one that should be celebrated. I pray that Gene's good qualities have been passed on to his family . I am sure that Gene and Dick are looking down and encouraging us all to spread the love lessons they taught so well. So I say peace to you dear friend, till we meet again.
