BOONTON---Bernice (Lawrence) McKenzie died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Morris Hills Center, Morristown following a brief illness. She was 97. Born in St. Anne, Jamaica, she came to this country in 1986 and had lived in Boonton ever since. Mrs. McKenzie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses at Kingdom Hall, Towaco, NJ. Her husband, Herbert, died in 1993. She is survived by three daughters, Louise Duffus of Boonton, Nesta Lee of Rockaway and Esmie Wilson of Boonton; two sisters, Mariesa Barnnett and Frederica Harper, both of Jamaica; a brother, Gladstone Lawrence also of Jamaica; 20 grandchidlren, 47 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24th at 10:00 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 PM only at the funeral home.
