Willi E. Arndt of Boonton Township passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old. Willi was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Boonton as a young boy. He has lived in Boonton Township since 1968 with his wife of 47 years, Barbara Arndt. Mr. Arndt proudly served in the United States Army before attending Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked at Bell Laboratories in Whippany for 40 years, and was long-time member of the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and was an active member of the Men's Club. Willi enjoyed traveling, skiing and boating. Willi is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and his daughters, Cheryl Opell and her husband, Brett, of Warren, and Kristin Groeneveld and her husband Andrew, of Boonton Township. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Whitney and Cole Groeneveld, and Justin, Aaron and Jeffrey Opell. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Sunday, September 28th from 2 - 6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Rockaway Valley Methodist Church, 38 Valley Road, Boonton Twp., NJ on Monday, September 29th at 11:00 am.
