Gloria E. Wendt, of Boonton, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Hospice of NJ in Wayne, NJ. She was 83 years old. Gloria was born in Dover, NJ to her parents Leo and Elizabeth Gallagher. She lived in Hackettstown and Dover before moving to Boonton in 1957. Mrs. Wendt worked as a secretary / bookkeeper at the Boonton Board of Education, retiring in 1998. Gloria was a devout member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, where she was a member of Busy Hands Knitting Group. She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Boonton Volunteer Fire Department and the Boontonites. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, George A. Wendt and her parents. Surviving are her children, and their spouses, George and Christine Wendt, Lynn and Gordon Douglass, James and Wendy Wendt, Carl and Jennifer Wendt; a sister, Leona Rose Wheeler; also 12 cherished grandchildren. Family and friends are invited for visiting on Wednesday, September 24th from 4-8 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, September 25th at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton.
