Please share a memory of Lore' to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lore' Barnes Van Duyne, 86, of Parsippany, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014 after a short illness. Lore' was born in New York City on May 2, 1928, the only child of Richard M. and Edna (Kenwood) Barnes. She attended elementary school in Towaco before moving to Mountain Lakes and graduating from Mountain Lakes High School, where she met her future husband Harrison Van Duyne. She attended William & Mary College and graduated from Cedar Crest College. After a brief career as an administrative assistant in New York she married Harrison in 1951. They settled happily in the Lake Intervale section of Parsippany where they raised their three children. She later returned to work, spending time as an administrative assistant at Parsippany Hills High School. Lore' was predeceased by her husband Harrison in 2007 and her son Robert in 1987. She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Beverly of Mountain Lakes, her daughter Nancy Fritts of Denville, her daughter-in-law Mary Beth Sherman of Denville, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lore' loved being with her family, sunning in her pool, traveling - especially on cruises, bridge, bowling, sleigh riding and all things Disney. Though she lived a long and full life, she remained a child at heart. Friends may join the family for a memorial visitation at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home in Boonton on Friday, September 19 from 6-9 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Community Church of Mountain Lakes, 48 Briarcliff Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046.
