Reverend Chris Elliott Loyd

Chris Elliott Loyd passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the age of 54.

Chris was born in Valparaiso, Florida on February 23, 1960. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

He was Pastor of the Rock, a contemporary Christian church, meeting in Nyack, New York. Previously, he served as Pastor of New Life Fellowship in Madison, New Jersey and Rockland Baptist Church in New City, New York.

Prior to entering the ministry, Chris worked in the product design field as a consultant to firms in Texas including John Frassanito and Associates and R.O. Norman Company.

Chris enjoyed reading, planning the next trip (especially to Hawaii), and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of adventure - flying as a private pilot, sky diving, and riding motorcycles.

Chris is lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth, mother Carrie, sister Delene, niece Jennifer, nephews Phillip and John, and other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his father John and his sister RaNell.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, New Jersey on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm followed by a service at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. His friend, Rev. David Persson, will officiate the service. The interment will take place in San Antonio, Texas at Holy Cross Cemetery on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 am.
