Obituary of Eileen L. Carter

Eileen L. Carter An Awesome Golfer Eileen L. Carter (Lyons), 79, of Boonton Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2014 at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton Twp. Eileen was born in Morristown and raised in Rockaway, NJ. Her parents were the late John and Helen (Kavalic) Lyons. In 1955, she married Paul W. Carter and their wedding reception was held at the Knoll West Golf Club. Shortly after, they moved to Boonton Twp. to raise their family. In 2005, they returned to the Knoll to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and later that evening renewed their vows. She graduated from medical secretarial school and was employed at Blair Medical Associates in Morristown for over 20 years. Mrs. Carter was an accomplished golfer, winning many local tournaments and trophies.. She pursued her golfing passion throughout the United States, Mexico, Ireland and Scotland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Carter in 2007. Her kindness and frequent laughter will be sorely missed by her devoted children, Lisa Carter and her husband, Gary Strempek, of Marblehead, MA, Alyson L. Vernicek, of Netcong Heights, NJ, David J. Carter and his wife, Pam, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; loving grandchildren, Kristina Spadavecchia, Stephani Vernicek, Melissa Skei, David Carter and Stephen Zabrowski; cherished great grandchildren, Reagan, Devon and Ryan. Relatives and friends are invited for visiting in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ on Tuesday, April 1st from 5 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church 10 Pocono Rd., Mountain Lakes, NJ on Wednesday, April 2nd at 10:00 am.
