Obituary of Robert H Leaming

Dr. Robert H. Leaming Radiation Oncologist Dr. Robert H. Leaming of Boonton Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the NJ Firemen's Home, Boonton. He was 93 years old. Robert was born and raised in Camden, NJ. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Biology / Pre-med and from Jefferson Medical School with a Doctorate in Medicine. He studied as an intern in Roanoke, Va, where he meet his wife of 65 years, Mary L. (Anderson), and subsequent residency in Philadelphia, PA. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II as a medical officer. He has been a resident in Boonton Twp. since 1956. Dr. Leaming was a radiologist who had a private practice in New York City and was on staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering. His contribution to the advancement of the treatment of cancer will be long remembered. In addition to his career he was active in his community as a volunteer fireman. He was Life Member and Past President of the Boonton Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member and Past President of the 200 Club in Morris County and a faithful member of the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his son's Robert H. Jr., John David, Thomas J. and Glenn A.; grandchildren Robert III, Rebecca, Mary, Abbey, Leacy, Shane, Taylor and Courtney; also a great grandson Sabastian. Relatives and friends can visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Sunday, August 25th from 2- 6 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church on Monday, August 26th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the Rockaway Valley Cemetery.
