Robert A. Lowcher October 31, 1930 ~ May 1, 2013 Robert A. Lowcher, of Boonton, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. He was 82 years old. Robert was born in Passaic, NJ and lived in Clifton, NJ and Saddle Brook, NJ before moving to Boonton in 1962. Mr. Lowcher was a Korean War Veteran who served faithfully in the United States Navy "silent service" aboard the submarines USS Sea Owl and USS Crevalle. He was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans and the social group the Boontonites. He worked for 40 years in the construction business operating heavy equipment out of IUOE Local 825, Newark, NJ before retiring in 1992. Robert loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was always ready to lend a hand and easily forged friendships. Surviving are his beloved wife, of 59 years, Christiane (nee Nedellec); devoted sons, and their wives, Alan Y. and Patricia, Jeffrey A. and Dale, Robert M. and Tracey; also 8 cherished grandchildren: Jason, Kevin, Lauren, Alexandra, Christiane, Ryan, Christopher and Megan. Robert especially delighted in his grandchildren who roared with laughter at his witty one-liners. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton on Sunday, May 5th from 1 - 5 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Boonton on Monday, May 6th at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ.
