Frederick A. Domier, of Boonton Twp., NJ, passed away at home on Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was 85 years old. Fred was born in Paterson, NJ and raised in Hawthorne, and Wayne, NJ, graduating from Pompton Lakes High School in 1946. He lived in Wayne, NJ for 40 years before moving to Boonton Twp., NJ in 1981. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the US Army as a Sergeant of Company M, 21st infantry during the Army of Occupation in Japan. He was the squad leader of the machine gun squad where his specialty was the M1 rifle. After the war, he attended Rutgers School of Pharmacy in Newark and graduated in 1952 with a BS in Pharmacy. Mr. Domier was a registered pharmacist and owned and operated the family business, Domier Drugs, Inc., in Wayne, NJ until it closed in 1979. Afterwards he worked for the State of NJ Dept. of Health, retiring in 1996. While a resident of the Twp. of Wayne Fred was a 1st Ward Councilman for eight years and subsequently the Township Clerk. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, the former H. Joyce Dixon in 2005. Surviving are his children David R., and his companion Cindy of Boonton Twp. and Cathy L. Schappert, and her husband Robert; grandchildren Stephen and Megan, of Hillsborough, NJ . Fred had a love of family, politics, and the NY Giants. Visitation in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ on Friday, March 15th from 6-8 PM and Saturday, March 16th from 9 - 11 AM. Followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Rockaway Valley Cemetery, Boonton Twp., NJ.
