James P. Verhalen, Sr., of Denville, NJ, passed away on March 3, 2013. He was 87 years old. Mr. Verhalen was born in Milwaukee, WI and lived in Hopatcong, NJ for 55 years before moving to Denville in 2008. James was a graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also of Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. Mr. Verhalen's career started in Wisconsin at United States Mineral Products. He retired in 2008 as the Chairman of the Board after being with the New Jersey company more than 60 years. James was a longtime Rotarian with the Netcong-Stanhope Rotary. Surviving is his beloved wife of 66 years, Florence W. (nee Wells); devoted children Ann Scocco of Hopatcong, NJ, Joyce Pandolfi (Francis) of Stonington, CT, Susan Dyer (William Randolph) of Rockville, MD, James Jr. (Mary) of Phillipsburg, NJ, Andrew (Janet) of Palo Alto, CA, Philip (Gina) of Fredon, NJ, and Kristina Turner (Norman) of Cardinal, VA; dear brother of Rev. Charles of Milwaukee, WI, Rosemary Cummings of Appleton, WI, and Philip of Tacoma, WA; also 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Mary's Abbey, 230 Mendham Road, Morristown, NJ, on Thursday, March 7, from 9:00 - 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Chapel at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ. Arrangements are in care of the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, Boonton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to The Lighthouse International, Development Department, 111 E. 59th Street, New York, NY 10022 ( www.lighthouse.org).
