Obituary of Anne Cryan Maypole

Anne "Nancy" Cryan Maypole (Nee White), 69, longtime resident of Mountain Lakes, NJ and lately of Sarasota, FL, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Born May 4, 1943 to Rose and William White in Pearl River, N.Y., she grew up in Paterson, NJ and attended Douglass College. In 1962, she married John F. Maypole of Oak Park, Ill. and lived for brief times in North Carolina and Virginia. In 1965, Nancy and her growing family moved to Northwest NJ, and lived in Boonton, and later Mountain Lakes, where the family has had a residence from 1967 to the present. Since 1988, Nancy and John have divided their time between Mountain Lakes and Siesta Key, Florida, keeping busy with friends, family, and their love of international travel. Nancy will be greatly missed by her children, Cynthia and husband Scott Hunt of Johns Creek, GA, son John and his wife Anupa Bir of Newton, MA, and daughter Kimberly and her husband Timmy Maypole of Sweden. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Katelyn, Allison, John Krishan, Kiran, Kyna, Victoria and Linnea. She is survived by her husband, John, and her brother Stephen White and his wife, Julie as well as many members of her extended family and large social circle. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. To all her knew her, Nancy might best be described as from a passage in her high school yearbook, as one most often found in the center of a group of laughing people. With her trademark sense of humor, tireless energy, and unsinkable outlook, Nancy was forever up to something, such as leading projects in charitable work, making new friends with her cartoons, glorying in the company of old friends, or in planning the next adventure with a grandchild. Nancy was passionate, opinionated, creative, loyal, spontaneous and unique. She was widely loved and she will be fiercely missed. Funeral services are from the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton, NJ on Saturday, Feb. 23rd with visitation from 8:00 - 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be offered at 10:00 AM in St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton, NJ.
