MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP---Daniel J. Cavanaugh, Jr. died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Morris View Healthcare Center, Morris Township following a long illness. He was 86.

Born in Newark, he lived in Montville most of his life except for a 15 year period when he lived in Hackettstown.

Mr. Cavanaugh was a construction code official in Bernards Township, NJ for 10 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to that he held a similar position in Montville Township for many years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a parishioner at St. Pius X Church, Montville.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen (nee McLaughlin); two sons, Daniel J. and his wife Barbara of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Kevin P. and his wife Jeanne of East Stroudsburg, PA; a daughter, Kathleen A. Palumbo of Boonton Township; a sister, Anna Mae O'Dowd of Hackettstown; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 28th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, Montville with interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
