BOONTON---John E. Welz died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Morristown Medical Center following a long illness. He was 77.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Boonton for many years.

Mr. Welz was a compounder at Norda Chemical Company, Boonton for a number of years before retiring in 1997.

He was a longtime, active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Boonton.

His wife, Alberta (nee Conn), died in 2011.

He is survived by a brother, Wayne Welz and his wife Phyllis of Greentown, PA; a sister, Jane E. Welz of Southold, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13th at 12:00 P.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service on Monday.

Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 Cornelia St., Boonton, NJ 07005. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
