Paul Aloysius Pyontek Obituary
Paul Aloysius Pyontek died on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Merry Heart nursing home in Boonton Township following a long illness. He was 87. Born in Boonton he was a long time resident of Montville before moving to Boonton Township in 2009.
In 1943, Mr. Pyontek was drafted into the US Army for active duty in WWII where he trained at jump school, assigned to the 376th parachute filed artillery battalion of the 101st airborne as Corporal and awarded a Purple Heart. During the Korean War he was on the 38th Parallel and was Sergeant 1st Class.
Before retiring in 2005, he was the custodian at the Craig School in Boonton. A member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church he was also actively involved in the Montville senior citizens club and the Montville Historical Society. He was a self employed heavy equipment operator and worked at Drew Chemical in Boonton.
His wife Elizabeth "Betty" (VanDuyne) died in 2007. Survivors include his brother William Pyontek of Boonton. Ten nieces and nephews; Carolyn Krawczuk, Sondra Leggiardro, John Pyontek, Willie Pyontek, Janet Kalwa, Fred Pyontek, LeeAnn Byram, Darlene Pyontek Dougherty, Marlene Flyte and Richard Pytonek
The funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 21st at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Montville Reformed Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 - 9 PM Only at Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. Contributions in Paul's memory may be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, 215 Hill St., Boonton, NJ 07005. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
