Through mutual friends of his in the Marines, Mr. Verkuilen let our family understand the circumstances of the death of my Uncle James Sullivan (from Brookline, MA). Marv was with him and the last to see him alive at the battle of Chosen in Korea. He had never told anyone in well over 50 years what had happened to "his buddy" James. It was so painful for him to tell us. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the whole family. He was truly a great man.

Very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Marv with N.J. Bell. Marv was a great man. When I wanted to become a splicer, Marv told me he was going to look at my work, and if he thought I was a good craftsman he would make me a splicer because he wanted quality. 2 days later he came to me and said, you are now a splicer. I will always be gratetful to him for giving me this opportunity. May he rest in peace.
