BOONTON TOWNSHIP---Catherine E. (Smith) Sorber died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Merry Heart at Boonton Township. She was 95.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she had lived in Boonton for 70 years.

Mrs. Sorber worked for a time at vanRaalte Hosiery Co., Boonton, then as a bank clerk with Citizens First National Bank, also Boonton, for 10 years before retiring in 1975.

Her husband, Rowland, died in 1993. She was also predeceased by a beloved granddaughter, Melissa Sorber, in 1994.

She is survived by a son, David R. and his wife Donna of Lake Hopatcong; a daughter, Joyce L. Yukna of Brandon, VT; a sister, Jean Smith of Wilkes-Barre, PA; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 910 Birch St., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Prior to the mass friends may call on Friday beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton.

Memorial contributions in Catherine's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
