Obituary of Robert Anthony Kelly

Robert “Bob” Anthony Kelly, 83, of Ocean Township, NJ, formerly of Mountain Lakes, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Born in Boonton, NJ to Judge Edward and Madeline Kelly, Bob was raised in Boonton where he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Bayley-Ellard High School, and Regis University.

He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Gail Kelly; together they raised their four children in Mountain Lakes and were members of the Parents Association of Gill St. Bernard’s School, Delbarton School, and the Academy of Saint Elizabeth. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Nantucket, and took memorable trips to South Africa, Ireland, and China.

Bob started his insurance agency, R.A. Kelly, and successfully operated the company for over 20 years. He remained in contact with his childhood friends from Boonton, and enjoyed golf, stamp collecting, and American history. 

Robert was pre-deceased by his wife, Gail Kelly and his eldest son, Thomas Kelly. Surviving are his devoted children, Maureen Kelly Samson, her husband, Steven, and their sons, Jack, Reid and Liam of Mountain Lakes, NJ; Maribeth Kelly Anderson and her husband, Scott, of Washington D.C.; and Edward "Ted" Kelly, his wife, Keri, and their children Seamus and Madeline of Olney, MD; as well as his loving sister Patricia Lockwood of Daytona Beach, FL.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am on Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ, followed by a private burial.  Arrangements are in care of Codey & Mackey Funeral Home in Boonton.
