Obituary of Thomas Edwin Haupt

Thomas E. Haupt, formerly of Lake Forest, IL and Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, in Boonton Township, NJ with his family at his side.

Tom was born in April 1933 in Chicago, IL, the son of Anthony and Esther (Weimar) Haupt.  He was a proud graduate of St. George High School in Chicago, Class of 1951, and Loyola University Chicago, graduating in 1956.  Beginning in November 1956, Tom served 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Darmstadt, Germany.  He then went on to have an illustrious career as a CPA and the manager of firm accounting at Arthur Andersen in Chicago, retiring in 1994 after 32 years. 

Tom is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Alexandra “Sandy” (Ivan); his daughters, Michele (James) Gregorek; Caroline (Chris) Furth; and Dianne (Duane) Papp; his granddaughters, Lindsey Menchinger; Jamie Gregorek; and Allie Gregorek; his great-grandchildren, James and Madelyn; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher and his sister, Antonette Lynn.

Tom was a devout Catholic whose faith was very important to him.  His love, guidance, companionship, and humor will be deeply missed. Memorial donations can be made to Catholic Charities at www.catholiccharitiesusa.org

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, February 24th in St. Catherine of Siena R. C. Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
