Doris Lenzen Grebenstein, 100, of Shell Point in Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024.

 

Dot was born in December 1923, to Mable Sadie (Schwarz) and Eric Lenzen in West Hoboken (now Union City), New Jersey. She was a graduate of Bogota High School and of the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She resided previously in Maywood, Cedar Lake, Mountain Lakes and Montville, New Jersey; in Berwyn, Pennsylvania; and in Sherborn, Massachusetts.

 

Doris was a congregant in New Jersey at the First Presbyterian Church of Maywood and The Community Church of Mountain Lakes; the Berwyn United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania; and the Pilgrim Congregational Church of Sherborn, Massachusetts.

 

During the Second World War, Dot was employed by fabric manufacturer Deering, Milliken & Company, coordinating the supply of tenting duck to the war effort. She later held staff roles in the admissions offices at both Wellesley College and Drew University.

 

Dot was preceded in death by her husband Charles, by her son John (Maryanne), and by her brother Robert Lenzen. She is survived by sons Charles (Cynthia), Kenneth (Janis) and daughter Lynn; grandchildren Andre (Gina), Heidi Speckhart (John), Thomas (Frances), Leisl Sheehan (Douglas), Emily, Julia (David Margines) and Claire; and eleven great grandchildren.

 

Family services are private and coordinated by Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton.
