Obituary of Virginia Ann Johnson

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

After a life well lived it is with great sadness that we share the passing of our mother, Virginia (Ginny) Ann Johnson.

Born in Newark, NJ in December 1934, she was the daughter of Virginia and Paul Mulligan, and the sister of Paul Mulligan.

A graduate of Arts High School in Newark, and later Newark State Teachers College (Montclair University) in Montclair, Virginia often substitute taught in the Rockaway school district.

Her main focus was her husband and her three children. She was a scout leader and a PTA mother. Ginny was the co-owner with her husband, Tom, of the Park House Tavern in Boonton.  She was affectionately known as the “Dragon Lady who Breathed Fire” - not tolerating any nonsense in the tavern.

Upon her retirement Ginny and her husband traveled in their “Open Road” van. They traveled across the United States, but spent most of the winter months in the Florida Keys.  It is fitting that she spent the last chapter of her life in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Virginia is survived by her children, Thomas P. Johnson and his wife, Margaret (Boyle); and Kathleen Spinozzi and her husband, Joseph Spinozzi; her son-in-law, David Korn; her granddaughters, Jessica Johnson and Nora Johnson and her nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Johnson; her daughter, Valerie Johnson-Korn; her grandsons, John Spinozzi and Glenn Johnson and her brother, Paul Mulligan.

Our hearts are hurting, Rest in Peace Mom.
