Obituary of Eugene R. Tappen

Eugene R. Tappen, III, of Pine Brook, NJ, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  He was 91 years old.

Born in East Orange, NJ to Eugene Tappen and Frances (Tappen) Lepore, Eugene attended Clifford Scott HS. He moved to Pine Brook in 1958.

He proudly served in the US Navy in World War II.  Eugene was an engineer for over 35 years at I.T.T. in Nutley, NJ, and several countries abroad.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9th from 4-7 pm at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 10th at 10:00 am in St. Pius X Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville, NJ, where he was a founding member.  The interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Orange, NJ.  To share a condolence or a memory, please visit codeymackeyfh.com.

Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Kirst) Tappen in 2007.  His son, Ross Tappen, daughter in law, Jessica Arenella, brother, Brent L. Tappen, former wife, Shirley A. Tappen, and two grandchildren, John Phillip and Mary Eleanor Tappen survive him.
