Shawn Alexander Beatty, age 49, passed away at his home in Robbinsville, NJ on Friday, October 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Shawn was a beloved father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend to many. He was born August 13, 1976 in East Orange, NJ to the late Mary Beatty Chatpman and the late Leon Harrison.
Shawn attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Boonton and the Boonton Public School system. He graduated from Daytop Academy in Mendham, NJ where he received his high school diploma and a degree in Culinary Arts. He was employed at the NJ Firemen’s Home in Boonton until he relocated. Shawn attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Boonton Township, NJ along with his family. He was known for his incredible sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh no matter the situation. He had a passion for sneakers—always sporting the latest and cleanest kicks—but above all, his heart belonged to his family, especially his daughter, Kaitlyn.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Shawn played football at an early age with the Grayhawks Football team, and basketball, football and lacrosse at Boonton High School. He loved cheering on his favorite teams and sharing game-day excitement with family and friends. Whether it was basketball, football, or any good matchup on TV, he brought energy and joy to every moment.
Music was also a constant love in Shawn’s life. He could often be found relaxing to his favorite tunes or turning any gathering into a good time with the old school rap that he grew up on. His love for music and sports reflected his vibrant spirit and his ability to find happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
Shawn was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Lou Chatpman, father Leon Harrison, grandmother Louise Beatty, uncle Ernest McCullough, and Mack Camps, special family member and “Kaitlyn’s beloved grandfather”.
Shawn’s spirit, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. Though he may be gone, the memories he created will continue to bring smiles and comfort to those who loved him most.
Shawn is survived by his cherished daughter, Kaitlyn Beatty of Kissimmee, FL, who was the light of his life and his greatest joy. Shawn’s world revolved around his “Princess”, and his love for her was evident to everyone who knew him.
He is also survived by his loving sisters, Jennifer Beatty of East Orange, NJ, and Catlyn Chatpman of Boonton, NJ; and his Godmother and Aunt, Marilyn Jordan of Bloomfield, NJ. Additionally he is survived by his sister Karla Alexander of Edison, NJ; his brothers Toney Harrison of Newark, NJ, Rhodrick Harrison of Allentown, PA and Glenn Harrison of Linden, NJ; his nieces and nephews that he was recently reunited with; and many other devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Shawn will also be deeply missed by his nieces Kaylah, Jessica, Samantha and Kamryn, and his nephews Alexander and Damon, who will forever remember their uncle’s jokes, warmth, and the fun times they shared.
