Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rosemarie Theresa Garrett passed away in her Montville, NJ home, surrounded by family on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Rosemarie was born in January 1930 to Vito (William) and Carolina (nee DiLorenzo) Catena, one of three children in a tight knit, loving family. Following her graduation from Saint Vincents Academy of Newark, she went on to earn her associate’s degree and became a Registered Nurse. Rosemarie worked at Newark City Hospital in obstetrics, where she met her future husband, Patric J. Garrett. Following her time at the hospital, she worked at the Cranford Extended Care as well as at a private cardiac and oncology practice in Elizabeth.
Rosemarie married Patric and they raised their two sons in Cranford. In addition to her career, she was very involved in the activities of her sons growing up and supportive of her grandchildren’s activities. Rosemarie was the glue that kept the family on track to success. She also enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, MA, hanging out with her daughters-in-law and her neighbor Christine. Rosemarie was an avid bowler starting at 80 years and enjoyed cooking gourmet meals throughout her life
Predeceased by her parents, her husband and siblings, Vito Arnaldo (Arnold) Catena and Geraldine Pecoraro; Rosemarie is survived by her cherished sons, Marc Garrett and his wife, Maureen of Plymouth, MA; and Anthony Garrett and his wife, Linda of Montville, NJ; her beloved grandchildren, Caroline Franco (Vincent); Adrianna Garrett (Daniel Eckler); and Lara Deane (Ian); her adorable great-grandson, Lincoln James Deane; and one more on the way; her devoted live in aide, Francine Campbell; and her extended family.
